Ingredients
Method
- In a microwave-safe measuring cup, combine corn syrup, butter, and granulated sugar. Microwave until melted and bubbling. Stir well and set aside to cool and thicken.
- Grease two oven-safe ramekin baking dishes (4-6 oz. each) and set aside.
- Melt the remaining butter in the microwave.
- In a clean bowl, whisk together half and half, egg whites, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour in the melted butter and whisk until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes in a separate bowl and stir gently until all bread pieces are completely coated.
- Place coated bread mixture into each prepared ramekin. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Top with the remaining coated bread, then evenly distribute the rest of the chocolate chips.
- Place the prepared ramekins into your air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 325°F (160°C) for 12-14 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Notes
- Use slightly stale bread for the best texture; it absorbs the custard better.
- For richer flavor, substitute half-and-half with whole milk and a splash of heavy cream.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard mixture for extra warmth.
